loveWelcome to our travel to Czechoslovakia. On Dec 6th is there version of St. Nicholas Day. And they believe that Mikals comes down from Heaven on Heavens golden cord. An angel of white and the devil in black called Cert, and comes together. The children rush to the table and recite their prayers. If they do a good job, Mikalas tells the angel to give the child some presents. If not so good Cert will shake a whip and rattle chains and tell the child what happens if the child is naughty.
On December 24th, “Generous Eve” , is celebrated. Decorated trees and gifts are placed under the tree. Gifts of nuts, fruits, gingerbread and decorated eggs.
On the next 2 days people enjoy Nativity scene around the city. And family and friends visit each other. After the Christmas meal is over the leftovers go to the animals to ensure a prosperous New Year.
